Scirocco Register

Ive only been driving my GTX for a couple of weeks now and it is very obvious that the indicated speed is more than what the car is actually doing!
Ive done some research and it looks like it is down to the coloured speedo drive gear but I havent checked what colour it is yet.
The gearbox code is ACD, so I think it should be a red gear.

Has anyone found a wrong one fitted in their car before?

Just in case... Are you sure you are runnin the correct wheel/tyre combination for the speedo's calibration?

It has the standard P slots with 185/60/14's on them
I'll whip the drive gear out and check it tomorrow

Word of warning, be carful taking the speedo drive gear out of the gearbox as they do fall off and end up in the gearbox.
Have you checked that the mileage is right 1 mile on the sat nav is 1 mile in the car? if the speedo reads 1 mile correctly then it could be the speedo needle has been taken off and not put back in the right place not a problem with the speedo drive gear.

Injection models do have a red gear drive, still available from the dealers. Both my cars over read the speed, common on old cars.

reading too high used to be very common, as said. newer cars with electronic speed sensors tend to be more accurate. so long as you think you're going faster than you are, it's not really a problem - you're not going to get nicked for speeding when you think you're within the limit.

how far out is it? and is it always the same? (i.e. always 5mph out, always 5% out)
