KR Head on EX block????

Hey all,
Been having some thoughts on what I want to do engine wise with the rocco, and have a question for you all. Does any one know if a KR cylinder head will fit on an 8v EX Block?
I would imagine that due to the dished piston shape of the EX pistons and the larger dome of the KR compression would suffer, however should it fit, I had planned to fit high compression flat forged race pistons which should at least return compression to around the same as a standard KR, right?
I know it seems like an odd combo when there are soo many alternative swap solutions, but its something I haven't seen and would like to have something a little unique. I also want a relatively easy and build that still allows for a full top to bottom rebuild at home with out having to worry to much about additional parts / ignition etc to make it work. I plan to run it on Twin 40 / 45 carbs and like the way the KR allows these to be on the opposite side from the exhaust. Basically I want to keep as much of the original EX engine and setup as possible and keep as many things mechanical over electronic (ingnition etc).
Originally, I had just planned to fully rebuild the EX, take it to 1.9 / 2.0l, lighten, balance and knife edge the crank, forged high comp pistons, balanced rods, ARP bits, MLS headgasket, port and polish the head, fast road or maybe race cam, 4 branch exhaust manifold and fit the twin webers. But like I said, I like having the carbs on the front away from the exhaust manifold and imagine having the 16v over 8v might be nice too.
Forgive me if I sound like an idiot for even suggesting this as while i am pretty good with things mechanically and can happily rebuild things etc, I am still quite new to the intricacies of it all, the numbers and compatibility etc.
look forward to hearing what you all reckon!
Cheers!
