Hi all I'm wondering what people have used for their rear disc from drum conversion as I'm wanting to do this to mine

If you want to do it for cosmetic reasons, fair enough. To improve braking performance I'd just look at the front brakes as drums are perfectly adequate at the rear.

no to mention much less hassle!! drums tend to get ignored, as people don't know how to service them, or (like me) just can't be arsed

There is a good guide on edition! it should be at the top in the FAQ in the mk1 secton as I posted in it.

Im going to use 6N2 Polo GTi parts. mainly because I have them lay around but people advice them or Mk3.5 cab parts to be the best.

I still need to buy some handbrake cables!

I looked into it and its either mk2/3 golf stub axles and discs with mk 2/3/4 callipers. I believe the mk3.5 cab has the mk4 calipers on the mk3 stub axles hence the recommendations mentioned above.

Or the polo setup as mentioned above.

The mk2/3 callipers are prone to the handbrake mech seizing up.

Mk4 calipers require flexi house adaptors from goodridge ( pricey) I think
the polo ones do too.

The golf stub axle option means using taper bearings that you press into the discs.

The polo option has a separate hub with sealed bearing unit. Easier to replace and less likely to go but much more expensive when they do.

Whatever you use you will need 16v rocco handbrake cables. JBO has some cheap ones for sale.

Also don't forget to look at how your going to rebalance the brake bias to stop the back end locking up and making you fishtail everytime you slam on.

Take a look at the mk1 golf owners club forum as I'm sure I saw a full setup for sale recently on there.
