I am fitting new ARB bushes on the rear beam and am not happy with the fit of the outer ones. I have all OE equipment including new vw brackets, clips and bushes +original (repainted) vw ARB. I can assemble the clips ok but once assembled the rubbers are squashed out of the sides of the clips by about 10mm each side of the brackets ? Anyone got any suggestions ? The old ones (same part number) were not like this ?

You need to upload the picture to a web site like photobucket.com then copy and paste the IMG code into your message.
You can check it works by using the preview button on the bottom of the page.

Have the bushes got the correct size hole in them for the arb to go thru? Were they loose or very tight to get on the arb?

Ye Nate may have a point as I think there are two sizes of anti roll bar.

Or possibly there are two sizes of clip aswell and youve got the wrong one?

Ok tbanks, I'll check the brackets and clips against what's left of the old ones. The bushes themselvesa are the same part number so I guess they are right, the old ones are so past it that it's hard to say. The new bushes push onto tbe ARB with a firm push, nothing difficult and once on tbey slide and twist quite easily and don't seem stretched ? I got all the bit's OEM from Heritage, I don't think there were any size or type options ? Is there anyway I can upload pictures straight from my phone as that's what I'm using to write this ?

When I rang somewhere to price up polybushes for the car they said they had two differant sizes listed for the rear.
So that's all I've got to go on but I'm sure there are people on here who know more.

16v has a larger rear bar and, obviously, larger bushing and - i think - clamps.
That's what may be showing up, 8v bar = 20.5 mm and 16v = 24mm.
It's all part numbered on vagcat.

Ok brilliant info thanks. The Rocco is an '87 1.8 8v, my ARB is 21 at most (with paint) and the clamp is part number 171-511-433. The bush is part number 171-511-437, and the clip is part number 171-511-453. Does that all sound like it's right ?

i'd sugest measuring the arb you've got and then getting bushes for that size of bar, rather than trying to order them for a particular model. knowing what manufacturers are like for fitting the wrong parts in the factory..
