is it safe to use nitromors type stuff on alloy wheels?

I read somewhere that's its not good for the alloy.
That's why I didn't nitromorse my wheels.
I sanded them instead by hand.
Acid dipping is the best but I don't know many places near me that do them.

I bought paint stripper to do some old snow flakes and the stuff I bought from the motor factors barely did anything. I had an old can of Automotive Nitromors which was working fine but it ran out. Further research indicated that due to new laws these products don't have methylene chloride in them anymore so your average off the shelf stuff is rubbish. I could have bought a large amount of trade stuff from an automotive paint supplier but didn't want to pay for a large amount.

So yes you can, maybe take some advice from a supplier that you are specifically stripping alloys. My belief is that as long as you fully rinse away the stuff once done it should be fine. Oh and don't do it in your enamel bath (there is a legendary thread somewhere where someone destroyed a bath).

Seen someone strip a cam cover with oven pride cleaner (at your own risk lol)

My local tyre place dipped and stripped them for £5 + vat each call round

if you can have them soda or aqua blasted its the better way to go.

i've always rubbed them down by hand when at work but cost effective it aint.

soda blasting can leave a film on them though so will need to pre clean well before paint.

AP tyres parkgate rotherham. I bought the stripper and had a go and it was a pain in the arse so i got on the phone.

:( bit far from me. by the time i'd driven up there i would have spent more than getting them done local. ah well, worth asking
