some help needed 3 questions

Post by gt2 »

hi all

dragged the scirocco out and been looking over it, have a couple of questions

firstly bumper iron is rotten, have sourced a new bumper, so first question, how to get off

have noticed one large bolt that goes through crossmember ( fairly large bolt about 17mm to right hand side of cross member, but where is the other bolt?, thought there were 2 to get out either side

secondly head lamps, have the usual broken clips ( gsf 94333) which i have now got new, now these are the front clips as such , i have one at back of this screw which is broke ( circle with like 2 lugs coming off, anyone have one ? )

lastly because been sitting for so long battery is goosed tried giving it major charge but absolutely nothing, so new battery needed recommendations please ,,

Battery-wise, I bought a Halfrauds Calcium one for my EW engined 1.6GT. Higher cranking power than the normal ones, makes it a hell of a lot easier to start in the winter! :chill:

front mate, as you look under the bonnet to the right of crossmember one big nut, screws left into bumper iron, meant to be two ? though i think, two holes in replacement bumper

Two bolts on each side - if you can find one, then go forward or back to find the other one. If you cannot find it, then it may have been left off sometime in the past.

the date of installation/sale *should* be marked on most batteries. there's usually a whole load of years and 12 months printed on a sticker, and the year and month of installation will be punched out

New headlight clip posted yesterday Mike, first class - trust the postal strike doesn't delay/affect MOT.
