TOR 754T

I'm staying at my parents' home and have just found a photo of my mother, at what I think is my sister's christening (making the year '78), standing in front of my grandmother's Mk.1 Scirocco. The reg. plate is clearly visible as TOR 754T and it was blue with a full-length Webasto sunroof.

The DVLA records show its last tax disc expired in 1991, by which time the car had also been registered as black in colour.

I suspect the chances of it still being around in any form now are close to nil, but I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who has ever seen the car/has any photos of it.

The colour was probably just wrong. Believe it or not, our friends in Swansea do make the occasional mistake!

Quite randomly I remember buying a TOR xxxT in a mid metallic blue - a GLS I think - circa 1995. The floor was totally rotten though so I think I sold that (and a Storm) via Loot to the same guy - who I'm sure was a specialist breaker masquerading as a normal buyer :yup:

The reason why I remember it was because it was the only T plate I ever had and the first carbed mk1 I had too. The colour was darker than the Ancona Blue shown in the 78 brochure though.

I also remember I bought it from Ealing..

Somewhere in the south-east would've been reasonable, my grandmother lived just outside Tunbridge Wells at that time. I think she sold it in about '85 - p/ex with the dealer for a new Jetta GT.
