Roccos bum has tin worm

I have a hole in the metal bodywork right next to where the exhaust comes out under the rear panel.
You can only see it when you get under the car.
After proding it with a screwdriver and slapping some paint on it to slow the rust down, I'm now wondering what is the best way to fix it.
Is it a mot failure to have a hole here as its non structural.
Would it be best to repair it by welding a plate In or is there a repair panel I can get?
The only one I have found so far is an entire rear panel from Vw heritage for 25 quid but it would be a shame to cut out the one part I need, and too big a job to replace the entire pAnel.

If it's on a relatively uncomplicated surface I'd have thought you could cut out and make a repair section - the other option is to chop a corresponding part out of a non-rusty scrapper.

If it's not within the prescribed areas for MoT testing it won't fail, a long as there aren't sharp edges that would pose a hazard to pedestrians.

Yeah I suppose so. It's just because I know there's a hole there I want to fix it.
I will try to get some pictures up tomorrow.
I did think about using fibreglass as that can't rot but its not going to be as good as a sheet of steel.
Plus one of the supporting screws for the rear body kit part is screwed in close to the hole.
I think I will probly fabricate some thing to fit.

Not a test fail. Might get advised if the tester can be bothered. Repair with steel and you know its done right then. It'll either be dead easy or really hard, depending on what you're like at bodywork
