Hi,
I have recently acquired an 02A gearbox to swap into my mk2. I have managed to get most of what I need to start fitting it but can't seem to find a definitive answer about clutch/flywheel. Do I need to get a different one or can I use the flywheel & clutch off my current 1.8 ex engine?
Ben.
02A gearbox.

Re: 02A gearbox.
Hi,
Yep you'll need a new clutch and flywheel from an 02A car (just not a flywheel from a VR6 as it's a different stud pattern on the crank). Anything from a Corrado or ABF Golf will do. I used a Mk3 16v flywheel and a Corrado VR6 clutch kit for mine.
Other things you'l need to think about if you haven't already:
New gearbox mounts (i got mine from Just Caddys)
A Mk2 Golf 1.3 speedo cable fits both ends
A Mk1 Golf 1.3 clutch cable fits both ends (if you're using the Seat Ibiza clutch actuator but needs a bit of modifying on the metal sheath at the gearbox end)
If your rocco has 90mm driveshaft flanges you'll needs new 100mm driveshafts (some company on ebay was doing them when i did my conversion a couple of years ago)
If you've got a lower strut brace fitted it might run a bit close to the new gearbox as it's slightly bigger (my OMP one didn't fit with the 02A box)
The most difficulty i had with the conversion was placing the new shifter. Think i'm happy with where it is now but i just need to do more hacking away at the centre console and make a gator up to make it all look like a factory fit
