In short, you will not make a profit from any Mk.1 or Mk.2 Scirocco that needs any restoration (although you say you run a bodyshop, if you look at the opportunity cost of doing this instead of a paid job, I'm sure you'll find this is still true).

A restored GLS will not be worth more than £3k tops, more realistically £2k-£2.5k.

Depending on the extent of the work that is needed, the car you describe is probably worth between £500-£800. Maybe £1000 if it's more solid and you're planning to keep it. A Mk.1 Scirocco will probably have more rust than you first think, especially if you have yet to get it in the air.

We seem to restore Mk1's because we just love them and theres not many left on the road, they might be worth more as time goes on but who can tell....
Post up some pictures if you can and we might get a better idea on whats it worth. I think there is onfo on what to look for etc on the opening page of the site.

Have you had a read of this lot?
http://sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/faq/ ... ing-guide/
Part 2 tells you what to look for body/rust wise, the same problems as Mk1 Golfs and Mk2 Sciroccos. Floors, sills outer and inner and rear wheel arches are easy avaible, front wings are the hardest find.

VW heritage sells lots of body parts as well as some other places on the web.
http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_act_page.r ... try_GB.htm

The prices and info that "the edmundator" has given would be what I would expect to pay and sell the car for. As with all these things the seller will want as much money as possible and you want it for the cheapest price, I'm sure you could come to some sort of agreement. Have they given you an idea of the price for the car yet?

Its been standing for 20 years so could also have a sized engine if they have not started it or turned it over by hand to add to the list, just hope they did not leave the handbrake on or you will never get out of the garage....

all four tyres are flat.i think it might be pain removing from garage lol.what i liked about it ,it hasnt been messed with, only two elderly owners, one a doctor from new and the ladies husband who had brain tumour in 93 when it was parked up,he never drove again and passed away 3 years ago.she said up till then its started regulary.it does need a body resto sills dont look bad, doors look savable, front wings may save ,inner wings behind indacator very crumbaly.front valance looks suspect, but its all original and not really messed with.interior is like new in a reddy/orange type 70s fabric.quite cool i think.
