FFS! Still No Brakes. Will I make Cosford?

Like Star Wars, the saga continues...

OK, was having no joy with the 280mm set up, so have gone back to standard. Parts include...

New Master Cylinder
Second hand never-been-adjusted cross linkage
Second hand never-been-adjusted servo
Standard calipers
New rear wheel cylinders.

Brakes bleed fine, plenty of fluid out the nipples (giggity) and eventually no bubbles. Pedal feels OK. Great stuff.

Turn the key, engine runs, pedal has no stiffness (double giggity) and I have no brakes at all.

Bypass the servo vacuum and the pedal naturally goes rock hard, but again no brakes.

So, safe to say its not a servo fault?

Am thinking all new brake lines and new fluid flush?

What else can it be?

I want to make it to Cosford this year guys, any help would be awesome

Help me Obi Wan Register, you are my only hope.

Did you "bench bleed" the new master cylinder before fitting?

I think it's either too much travel in the pedal (which is made worse by switching the engine on and operating the servo) or possibly a problem with the servo itself. Travel is likely to be in the rear drums rather than the front discs.

Are you sure the rear drums are adjusted up right? If you pull the handbrake to eliminate rear brake adjustment, do you get a pedal even with the engine running, or still the same pedal to the floor scenario?

Are you bleeding the system by starting from the furthest point from the M/C, then working towards it?

I assume all the servo pipes are connected up correctly and you haven't just got a big vacuum leak?

have you had any fluid leak into the servo? are the rear brakes hugely out of adjustment? thoroughly check every single pipe joint for any leaks

what you can try if you have some pipe clamps to hand it clamp off the rear brakes at the flexi hoses and see if that makes any difference. if it doesn't, try the same with the front flexi hoses and see if that improves it.

Following from this...

...I realised I'd have to bleed the ports on the master cylinder that I had blocked off. So replaced the bolts with bleed valves and jobs a good one. Nice cheap fix.

Roll on Cosford!
