going to make myself a new headlining, as the one fitted is badly damaged around the boot. anyone done it before? what sort of cloth did you use? i've gone off the stuff i bought a few years ago, and i've ordered a few samples online and it all is either too thick or too "cheap" looking

I'm looking into getting one too and I see a company in the US makes them. They are at stockinteriors.com. They also do an interesting mould for the top of the dashboard which I may require in the future. Apart from the reviews on their website there's not much out there about them. I have emailed them to see if they ship to the UK. Will let you know what they come back with.

Depending on how tight your finances are, it is worth reiterating that mk2 headliners are still available from VW (or were last time I had a trawl through their online parts catalogue). They were a bit over €100, which made a lot of sense to me given the time and skill that would be necessary to make it look as good as a factory finish.

Noted. But I am determined to have a crack myself - how hard can it be?
Seriously though, I've done upholstery (car and sofa) with reasonable results, and I'm ok with a sewing machine for making curtains and Roman blinds, so its got to be worth a shot. Just need to find the right material
