Gear Linkage questions

Evening all,

Couple of questions:

First up - I'm trying to get the TSR kit tightened to exactly where it should be and stupidly I binned the old plastic linakges. Anyone got any ideas of how to get everything set up properly, apparently there's a way if you put the car into first gear. Which brings me onto....
The bar with the kink (fnar). Has anyone got a photo of where the kink goes please?
And lastly - there's still an awful lot of slop (fnar) in the gearstick and the plate the linkage attaches to on the back of the gearbox. Would a gear linkage repair kit sort the movement or is it just "one of those things"? Cheers all.

The repair kits take much of the slop out, but I couldn't get hold of the big ball (fnar) last time I did one, and that's where the slop was. I wrapped it in insulting tape as a short term fix, which kinda worked. Self amalgamating tape may be a slightly better option
