MK1 Storm on Ebay

I was looking at this earlier, a bit of a curious one as the seller states it is has a 4 speed box and is brown, I thought the Storm was the first of the MK1's to have the 5 speed box and the brown was from later MK1 Storms?

For £6500 you would want the real deal and no work to do!

Can't see the pics too well on my phone, but that seems stupidly strong money for something that he says "needs paint"

seems like a bit of a dreamer really. ive seen far better examples go for far less money than that.

also Ian, my storm is a '79 and has a 4 speed box so 5 speed may have been optional

Hello!

The first 10 storms imported to the UK all ran 4 speed boxes. :chill:

I have 2 of them  , would love to think the other 8 are still alive and kicking in some form. :yup:

According to the DVLA this one is in the ultra rare Black paint.

Both of mine pre-date this storm, so it is not the earliest storm around :stop:

Wasn't it called schwarzbraun? In which case both are correct.

Hello!

Technically it could be either being requested / special order by the customer / dealer or depending on when it was registered.

I do know the Black ones are very very rare and it is such a shade of Black that can be mistaken for Brown or looks like a bad re-finishing job of brown. I would say you are more likely to find a Black V reg than a Brown V reg and it is 4 speed so one of the first 10 I would say it is Black.

Ask him to lift the front carpet and have a look I suppose, or take the dashboard out and see what one of the Karmann coach-building crew has scrawled what colour it should be behind the glovebox.

Again it could be what the DVLA person thought the colour was on registering EG :

I went to see a green storm once, colour on the logbook was Silver because the actual colour of the green storm is in fact Silver-Green.

The two of these that I had were far closer to brown than black. Unless you looked at them at night. In an underground car park with no lights.
