Morning all,

Well my car still isn't running run right... i have changed carb flange as it had a gaping hole in but that hasnt seemed to make much difference?

There are few things on my carb that dont connect to anything and i want to eliminate this as a fault before i start blaming the problems on something else. The problems with the car at the moment is that it will start fine but run quite rough with quite high revs 2000 - 2500 ish then go very lumpy and cut out, it only runs for about 2 min.

Here is a pic of the carb, my question is where does the tube im holding go? where does the white tube with the screw in the end go? and the little red spade connector coming out the front of the carb? and would these likely solve my problems?

Thanks in advance, :ok:

Woody.

The one your holding I think goes to the green bubble that fits on the bracket to the left of the carb. The white one goes to the standard air box to control the hot air flap. And the spade connector should provide an earth to the head.

I'd remove the k&n and fit a standard airbox and try and find and re fit the bubble as this helps to even out the vacuum and could well help your problems.

Also, when you first start it from cold, the auto choke will send the revs up to about 2k, but it should then gradually come down to just under 1k as the engine warms up.

didn't quite explain myself properly before, the car wont idle at all it just gradually stall after a couple of secs when i take my foot the thorttle, but it will run if i give it some throttle and keep it at about 2000rpm. but.... now that i have connected the red spade connector on the carb to the earth on engine and it now idles really rough at about 1000 then wants to stall and drops to 750ish then goes back up to 1000again. it keeps doing this but does run which is better than where i was before. Do i need to make any adjustments on the idle screw or mix? i have not had this car running properly as i bought it with these problems so i dont know if he has messed with the carb :(. as for the vacuum pipes what is the green bubble?

Thanks :)

Yours is missing, but it can be seen in this thread, second post.

The bubble might also help with your idle issue. Not sure on that bit tho because I fitted a weber carb to mine the day I got it. :-).
