scirocco 16v brake pads whats the difference?

Decided its time i pulled my finger out and fit my 16v rocco brakes from my previous mk2 onto my current one, not at all impressed with the pagid pads i had before as after less than a thousand miles they have chunks missing from them so decided to give ebc greenstuff pads a try, they list two different front pads for the front of a 16v scirocco DP2369/2 for 84-89 and DP2841 for 89-92 does anyone know what the difference between the two is? if the images are correct one pad is 1mm shorter and 1mm taller than the other, did the later cars have anti rattle shims? or did they use smaller pads for a reason such as to avoid sticking in the carrier.
Whilst im at can someone confirm whether the 16v scirocco originally had a bracket on the brake caliper (to secure a metal brake pipe and the flexible brake hose) and a short metal brake line between the caliper and the flexible brake hose, previously i was never that happy with the angle of the stainless steel hoses i had when they where secured to the strut body bracket hence me asking as for some reason i thought original cars had a bracket and short hard line
