MOT Fail - ARB linkage

Hi folks,

My Scirocco failed it's MOT today :( It failed on the carbon monoxide content of the exhaust gasses, and the linkage on the nearside front anti roll bar is mullered. The tester says the bracket has come off completely :?

So, need to fix her in 10 working days, which leads me onto my question RE the ARB linkage:

I've not seen the ARB set up on my Scirocco, so I'm unsure what's broken exactly :? The tester reckoned the 'bracket' that had come unattached could be unbolted and refitted in 30 minutes or so provided nothing broke as it was undone. Problem is I'm a visual person, hearing his explanation didn't make me understand - I need a picture to look at  has anyone got a picture, and any ideas on what specifically it is I need to replace??

Cheers,
Josh

Hi,

There are 2 types. Inner and outer. The outer one is a u shaped bracket that bolts onto the wishbone. 2 10mm nuts i think.
The inner is a u shaped bracket with a tongue on one side and a nut on the other. Both very straight forward to change.

Cheers for that :) I've had my Haynes manual out this evening, and as you say it looks fairly straightforward - just so long as nothing else breaks as I work on the car!

I would guess its this one that has broken. But check first, you can see this backet without jacking up the car, just turn the wheels to full lock and pop you head under!

Thanks for the tip about putting it on full lock, worked like a charm and saved me getting the axle stands out :D Had a crawl around just now, turns out it's the outer bracket that's broken. Lucky, as they seem to be the only ones you can buy!

The off side doesn't look too clever either

I'm thinking it might be worth sorting both sides out whilst I'm at it! My wishbones are also looking a bit lacklustre, so when I get a chance I'll replace them. If all goes to plan I'll work on renewing the running gear this summer. For now I'll just settle with an MOT!
