Rear wiper parking

The rear wash/wipe on my mk2 Golf works fine, except that it parks in random positions; with a lot of fiddling I can get it back to the correct place.

Is this likely to be a problem with the relay, rather than the motor?

Probably and easier to check! Is the wiper arm tight enough?

this will be the moter ed.
there is a copper track inside the moter that will need cleaning if you can get to it.
the motor should complete one full cycle when blipped by the relay.
also not 100% sure but check the fuse.
there are three wires going to wiper motor
1= earth
2= permenant live with igntion on
3= signal from timed relay
if you have a multimeter check for this permenant live, if you dont have it with the ignition on this will cause this symtom

Thanks, James. I'll take a look at the wiring and assuming that's ok it will probably be a new motor for the sake of the time involved.

I don't think it's a loose arm as it always moves at a fixed speed and doesn't drag or skip across the glass.
