Best fuel pump relay?

After having to call the RAC last night because my fuel pump relay went AGAIN, I'm wondering if there are any alternatives to the crappy GSF ones? Especially as the price has doubled since last time (I doubt the quality will reflect that).

The last one only lasted 3-4 years, surely they should last much longer? Anyway, a VW or Bosch one would be ideal I guess. Any suggestions?

Cheers.

The OEM ones were made by Bosch or Siemans, I know where I would be going to buy one. You could post a wanted ad on here, better to get a quality 2nd hand one than a cheap alternative imho.

GSF ones are TERRIBLE. Open one up, the huge spade terminal is soldered to a tiny wire inside which just burns out

Also worth keeping a bit of wire in the car for when they do go as you can hot wire the relay and get home. This worked for me once.

Yep, that's exactly what the RAC man did...not really sure why I didn't think of that to be honest!

Ok, I'll keep an eye out for a second hand one thanks.

To be honest, most of the relays available are made by the same chinese companies.

I used to work in a high-end automotive electrical company. We used to use Autoleads componants for things such as relays, diode kits, cable etc etc etc.... Never had issues with their relays even switching up to about 30 amps.

Main supplier of these parts to the general public now is hal-frauds. (hang my head in shame for mentioning them!!!)

Trade prices on these relays were about 30pence... They were even made by the same company that makes them for most major car manufacturers.

Fair enough mate, thanks for the advice. Ended up just going for a GSF one...seems to have done the trick.

Also keep a small bit of wire handy so if it goes go again you can still get home.
