Hi All,

You may remember the jade green 16v GTX I bought on here a few years ago that I sent off to have lots of engine work done. About 10 months later it came back as an entirely different car (due to serious rust) with pretty much everything uprated and improved. Back in the summer I got into an argument with a parked bus and crushed the front of my much loves car. Unfortunately it was a write off due to the tin foil chassis legs.

It sat on the drive for over six months where I lost the enthusiasm to reshell her despite buying and stripping a Helios Scala. The rain and cold hadn't helped either. I then found a black shell for sale on the forums which arrived on Monday.

So here goes another thread of my re shelling the car for the second time. Hopefully I can start this weekend and will include more pics this time. Below are a few post crash pics

A few pics of the new car below. I spent all of yesterday sweeping snow and glass from the car. The sound deadening is still soaking wet so I will either dry it or buy a new set.

Once the sound-deadening's been soaked, it'll always stink and it'll probably never dry out properly, either. I'd get some new stuff - I think Newton Commercial do a set ready shaped for Sciroccos.

Lol i just dried the stuff in my Mk2 Golf and it stank. It's ok now but it doesn't seem as thick!

I'll get the new stuff ordered up this week me thinks.

It will only stink till its fully dry, after that it should be ok..Its the same with carpets

Well it's been quite a busy weekend! I called a local guy in Salisbury who came down on Saturday to fit all the windows bar the doors. He only charged £75 for the job which I thought was pretty good.

The boot had no seals or anything else so it all had to be moved over. The door window and quarters took a while...I forgot how fiddily they were?! I also gave it a good clean and fitted the front clear indicators too. I still need to find a Hella 181 fog light to match the other smashed one.

Good to see this developing Jason.

I only managed to get half a day on the car yesterday I was/am having issue with my damn mk2 golf!

My awesome girlfriend got me the below for an early birthday present.





Not too bad underneath except for the off rusted dent where previous owners can't jack up a car properly! lol



Looks like it's wearing a very battered set of Konis.

I took Friday and Monday off so have managed to make some more progress over the last couple of days. It's a slow process as I have nobody helping me. It's so damn cold I don't blame then lol.



On the new shell the hard fuel lines have been cut short near the drivers side of the firewall so I decided to move the whole lot from the crashed car. Easier said than done! I robbed the label maker from work to mark everything to make it easier.



I hate taking exhausts apart but as the axle was off and it's a straight through it means I only have to reattach the back box! The guy who fitted it didn't think I wanted a flex joint....?! I'll get one fitted once the car is finished and legal.



So cold it started to snow!

The fuel filler on the crashed car looks slightly better shape so ripped it off along with the breather and gravity valve.







I had a bright idea and thought if i took the anti roll bar off I could then pull the fuel lines out......I couldn't lol.







I need to take the engine out at some point so might as well start now I suppose.

As the parents are away not issues with filling their wash basket up with car parts.



The whole side of this loom has always been a bit flaky but it seems to be even worse! Looks like I'm going to have to cut it back and rewire it. It's amazing it's been running so well! Lots more labelling too.





Hmmm I may need a new front mount me thinks lol. At least the poly bush is ok.



I accidentally snapped the front reservoir pipe when pulling it off. I've found a 16v golf setup so will be using that instead. I can then run the correct dizzy cap finally.



I've got pretty much everything unplugged from the engine.





Ill keep the cis snake safe and dry in the new car for the moment.

The plan tomorrow is to get the engine out. I should just be able to drop the front wheels, braked and suspension then drop the gear box, engine and drive shafts it one go hopefully. Once it's all out I can then move the fuel lines over to the new shell. The brake lines also look in a better state so might as well move these over too.

Once the line are done I can start putting the rear back together. I need to move over the swirl pot so need to drill some holes in the boot. The small motor factors near my parents house is open on Sunday's so he should have some drill bits hopefully.

Might need to wire brush the axle mounts as they have a bit of surface rust.
