Hi all

Image

have just got my first Scirocco is a 1984 with 113000 miles was a genuine barn find having lived in the barn for 13 years and only cover 2000 miles since 1999. As you can see in the pic she needs a decent bit of paint doing but is very solid and has no rot. Have a number of jobs to do but first is to get both from seats to move back and forward as the previous owner had longer legs than me and i need to slide the seat forward lol. The handles under both front seats wont move at all and as such i cant move the seats back or forward does anyone have an idea of how the mechanism works and what i can look at doing to fix it?

thanks in advance guys

Good find mate. Doesn't look like it needs much doing to it.

The seats are easy, get a torch and look under the front of the seats, you will see where the lever pulls out a small round bar about 3 inches long, the bar has a catch and it could be the lever has come out. The bar is sprung loaded, maybe the springs are missing? Easy to remove the seat, undo the one bolt (10mm and flat screwdriver) and remove, the seat will slide back. Rove the runner cover on the central tunnel and pull the seat out, replacing is the reverse.

If in doubt get a Haynes manual.

I expect the seat mechanism just needs cleaning and regreasing. I've had a couple where a load of dirt/dog hair etc has clogged it up. Usually worse if the car hasn't been used much.

Nice car, the CL is an unusual find.

Hi my good friends just bought this from fairlo, From what we've experienced he didn't attempt to fix any of the faults? My friend paid £350 for her (I'm not jealous much!!!)
Just the cutting out sticky/faulty lights switches and randomly moving seat to sort out.
