I thought it was time I got round to paying my membership and was trying to find out how to go about it.
I used the recommended link but got no reply so that was why I tried through this method.

Is membership from 1st Jan annually or just renewed a year from you join?

Not a typo error at all - the membership year runs 1st Feb to the following January 31st. i.e. renewal is done every January.
You should have had an email with a form, i sent a batch recently. I will resend them, i'm not convinced that the email was playing ball either due to the problems that we have lately.
