have any of you guys fitted a boot popper to the mk2? i had one but the solenoid went nuts, overheated and nearly set fire :/ it also didn't look too great, but was functional.
so if anyone has one fitted, could you possibly show us a photo to see how you've mounted it? an idea of what solenoid/popper you're using would also be useful :)
thanks

I've got a popper. Just an off the shelf solenoid I think.
Can get pics at the weekend

Ah, I see where that could be an arse. Used one of those on the first car.
Used one of these for mine this time:

Much, much easier to mount (take off the plastic, drill two holes, replace everything). I just used a bar to flick the catch (don't forget to wrap the metal parts in tape to prevent that terrible noise). There are bigger, more robust poppers available (fnar) and when I rebuild the central locking I'll use those on the doors, the ad says they can be used but due to being badly mounted by the arsehole that fitted the alarm they've torn themselves apart.

ahh i've seen those poppers but wasnt sure if they were pull or push upon activation. as there isnt much room back there, i was wondering how they'd fit in, assuming you had it bolted "in-line" with the lever and weren't using a pivot.

Hey jim, did you manage to grab a pic of how yours is set up dude?
i had a good look over the weekend. it almost looks like im going to have to make a pivot to be able to work the release lever. no idea how im going to hide this thing away though1 haha. so any pointers or photos would be much appreciated.
cheers

Morning fella,
Sorry, things have been mental over the weekend so never got a chance to get to the barn but I'm there this weekend all being well. In the meantime I'll have a look through my old photos to see if I've got anything that'll explain how I did it. Basically I removed everything other than the lock. The bar then goes straight to that, no need for a pivot as when the mech is installed it's surprisingly powerful.
