i got my gt2 cheap as it has no history and ten owners!!so bearing that in mind, should i make it as original as is possible and just restore it,even though it would never be all that desirable,or stick in a vr6,and just go for the street sleeper look.i dont really like the kitted up look,so maybe 30 to 40 mm drop and a bit of performance with the vr6? all veiws are welcome.thanks, thehat

VR6 isn't the best engine in a scirocco as it's heavy and will ruin the handling - fine if you just want to go quick in a straight line. Yours sounds like the kind of car you can do what you like with, preservation/restoration best for the low owners, low miles, full history cars and rarer models.

Ed is right, the VR6 is not the best powerplant for a light Scirocco. For my tuppence, i'd keep to the spirit of the car and drop in a 2 litre 8v or a 16v lump.

Unless you wanted to go mental and put the VR6 in the back.
But I'd go as suggested or 1.8 20v turbo

Think mid-engine RWD.
Probably more work than its worth but would definitely be unique.
