16v gearbox question..

Post by monzajake »

Anyone running a 020 gear box,taken from a 1.8 8v inj?

If so any ideas on your revs around 75 80 ?. Also what is it like through out the range ?
Thinking of changing the gearbox in the monza as the revs arnt very well suited for the motorways, but suited for sprinting  .

Thnking you please!!

I'm using the same gearbox on mine and around 75-80 it'll sit just under 4k - not too high for loads of motorway miles but it would be nice if they were lower, still its surprisingly fuel efficiant!

I'm finding that now i'm running the abf 2.0 16v its alot quicker up through the revs in every gear - fantastic for sprints

I have found 70 to be 3.5k and 80 to be 4k on mine, just on cam for getting into a stream of fast moving traffic in the outside lane. Are you running a 1.8 16v box Jake? I've been toying with the idea of fitting one.

Hi mate

I did a run a 16v box but it rev'd like a mad thing.
I then ended up fitting a box with no code on it not bad but still abit high rev wise as above post, gone to a 9a which seems pretty good tbh. I think later on in time im going to dig out my old 4+e box and fix the diff. :chortle:
