Hey all thought i may aswell do a thread on this as its turning into more of a project than i thought brought a 87 1.6 gt auto scirocco about a month ago for a massive sum of £250 with a few problems main one was blocked fuel line so easy fix (i thought) got it home a month back and gave her a full exterior clean :

Then started to sort things out on her first of all found why the fuel line was blocked supposedly a common problem on these :

Thought thats not to bad untill this weekend when started to take it out andddd found more problems first the filler neck :

Image

Kinda had it which os annoying then whilst scraping all the dirt and mud out of the arches found this:

Yay fooked arch not fun and finally last thing was removing the fuel tank to clean it out:

So thats all for now and now need to source a new filler neck cheaply lol

List of problems still to fix (nearly 3 years after purchase)
. replace auto box with manual running gear due to dying flywheel
. repair rusted windscreen surround (needing to find a stripped rocco for a replacement piece)
. get a new after-market sunroof fitted to stop leak (it has a britax one fitted and the seal has gone ((impossible to find a friggen replacement seal )
. save up for a repaint aswell as it need one )

Looking good, you had a very big leak there.
