'77 Viper Green Mk1

Hello all!!
I have been lurking on the forum a long time now and it's about time I introduced myself!
The name is Alan and I am living in Ireland. Have a few old VWs (Golfs), but only last November did I manage to get my hands on a Mk1 'rocco.
It is an original early model Irish car in Viper green. It was registered in 1977.
When I bought it, it had a lot of graphics and zero brakes....!
On return home, said graphics were removed and great plans made....
But car was put in a shed and waited patiently for a few months while I was out of the country with work...
But in the last few weeks I have got back to her...
Firstly, the brakes were given an overhaul using a 16v servo, 22mm master cylinder and 256mm front brakes using Vauxhaul calipers.
And some parts were gathered...
A set of RMs and KW V1 Coilovers
I also picked up a set of repo chrome mirrors from Retro-rabbit to replace the nasty things currently on the car!
Here is a picture of it on it's maiden voyage:
I had hopes of fitting the coilovers and driving it for a little while.... although plans changed!!
On the maiden run - brakes were short lived! And when I returned, I had an empty fluid reservoir.
Traced the issue to a corroded brake line - which run under the carpet in Mk1 Sciroccos - brake fluid and floor pan are not a good combination!
So I decided to whip out the seats and carpet to see what I was dealing with..
The floor is still solid so I am hoping I will have some metal left when I remove the rust... although cleaning under the beam for the seat runner is going to involve a bit of work!!!
There is also some welding needed underneath inside the left sill - so at this stage I decided the right thing would be clean, weld and paint all rust on floor and engine bay, so engine had to come out!!
I was not brave enough to take the wings off as I had as I had seen enough rust for one weekend....
I think the next steps may involve a sand blaster... but I have read they can be a bit severe so I will see how I go...
All comments and suggestions (particularly involving rust removal!!) welcome!
