Snow flakes were they paint or powdercoated?

I have these snowflakes that I plan to do a quick refurb with to run for the winter and was just wondering if the coating was easily removed with an automotive stripper? Or is the white paint in the picture like a powder coat that is going to be hard work to remove?


Just want to do a quick one colour probably silver paint job on them and get the better Pirreli's I have on there for safer winter driving. I know there is probably going to be a bit of elbow grease involved here as you can see the alloy is quite corroded.

No, I don't believe snowflakes were powder coated, it is a fairly modern practice on automotive parts.

I refurbed a set of snowflakes for my 85 GTX, I cleaned all the scabbed paint and corrosion off using a wire brush on a drill and polished using wet and dry, loads of sheets!
The process does take a while but the end result looks good. I made them look factory and lacquered them, they lasted the 18 months I had the car.

Cheers Ian, I reckon I'll try using some chemical warfare, wire brush attachments if necessary and then a bit of rubbing down, etch and some wheel silver.

I have all this kicking about the shop so budget will be zero
