Heater fan packed in?

I was out for a drive on Saturday with the good lady, the car became very hot as we were stuck in traffic for ages.
After some time the fan started to lose and regain power...i switched from setting 1-3 several times and then it stopped!
At a stand still when i switched it to setting 3, the power drain was evident but the fan did not move.
:help:

So is this a blown motor or do i need to inspect the fan itself? I have no idea about the heater fan and how to get to it.
Any advice welcome.

Thanks :hi:

Good luck with that bud. I've had a look at the assembly, i'm afraid im not experienced with removal of dashboards and im going to take this to a mechanic tomorrow night. He'll let me know how and why, i'll post again after then.

It is actually possible to remove the blower unit via the scuttle in the engine bay, but it's a faff. Basically you have to separate the two halves and pull them out one each end. Is it possible there's just a loose connector in there somewhere? It's easy enough to remove the heater control panel to check the connections inside.

Wow, £190 all in. After two hours labour and this, splitting it into two halves was mentioned, the part was after market. About £55 i think. :crying:
