Scirocco MK1 Carbon Fibre Bumpers & End Caps

Whilst looking into parts for the restoration of my Mk1 I've been looking at a few choice carbon fibre parts. Most carbon is pretty poor quality, but I now have a marine grade (UK Boat Builder) contact who has recently done these bumpers for a Mk1 Golf.

The quality is exceptional, these are solid carbon fibre multiple layered carbon, not just "skinned" bumpers. The original bumpers and end caps are sanded down, smoothed, primered and then moulded to make a cast for the new carbon fibre pieces. Metal parts are not damaged, but plastic parts may be. I'm now working with these guys on a few parts but if anyone else is interested please post below.

Parts for now are Mk1 bumpers and end caps ONLY, prices are TBC but approx £699 for a pair of bumpers including end caps and about £250 for 4 end caps only.

More info to follow... :ok:

They look very nice. Any pics of examples on the car? Do you need to supply your old bumper?

No pics yet, only the MK1Golf ones have been finished, you don't need to supply any parts, I've sorted that already.

I am seriously interested in a complete kit of two bumpers and end caps.
How have you solved the mounting? Keeping the original mounting bracket and drill a hole to the carbon fiber bumper?
Not so nice to have a visible ugly bolt in the front.
Is the carbon surface painted with clear coat, or is it raw carbon?

With the Mk1 bumpers we use the lower hole in the irons so the fastener isn't visible and bond the vertical face of the bumper to the vertical face of the irons. This way, if removal is necessary, the bumpers and irons have to come off together.
Its clear coated.
