Search GSF or ECP under MK1 Golf, they are the same.

Have you tried the main dealer? They were still selling springs when I bought a new set in 2007, and may well still do.
If it's the standard setup you're after, then you really do need to try VW (either the dealers or VW Classic Parts Centre) because they will know and be able to supply the right colour setting of springs for your model.

I just rang my local VW dealer and asked them to check if these are still available, they are all now obsolete!
GSF do sell them for a MK1 Golf GTi, part number 454VG1120.

Lo all the saga continues
Was in town and thought id drop in to europarts for some face to face ... got a boy that was more helpful (i think) asked for springs for the mk1 golf as suggested by Ian... Only to be told they wont fit but springs for an old jetta would .. so taken the chance that his computer was telling him something that every other place and person i've spoken to has missed.... will be tue before i get them so fingers crossed..
hope fitting is less hassle than finding them...

First time I've heard that mk1 golf springs won't fit. But anyway as long as the springs are for a mk1 jetta you should be ok.

Funny that, when I renewed my Scala's suspension I got the GSF ones for a MK1 Golf and MK2 Scirocco, perfect fit. The MK1 Jetta was just a Golf with a massive boot, so why would ECP say they wouldn't fit?
