Hi,
bought new window riubber for n/s/r window and it's really difficult to fit.
I've put the string around the rubber seal but when i come to pull it whilst sitting inside the car to fit it, it pulls too much of the rubber seal through every time.
It's a 2 man job but neither of us are having any luck.

Any ideas???

are you lubing up the rubber enough to push it deep into the body 1st?

^^ what he said

use a bit of silicone lube from a plumbers merchant or some ky jelly. many people use washing up liquid, but it does have a high salt content, so wouldn't be my preferred choice.

i've been using a spray on grease so would have thought so, i'll try some of the other suggestions though, as i'm all out of ideas here.

Trouble is, i'm not sure where i can purchase 'KY Jelly' as never used it before !!! :hehe:

chemist or supermarket. you should use it, it's amazing stuff. best thing i've found for pressing in suspension bushes [/euphemism]

obviously other brands are available, but any water based personal lubricant will do. for ages i had a pot of "dr johnson's anal lube" in my toolbox. got some really strange looks of customers when they saw it :hehe:

ha ha ha, this is more like a "carry on" link than anything else. I've heard of people loving their mk1's but Dr Johnsons Lube ??????

Thanks for the advice, i can't do much worse.......i'll let you know if i'm successful .

oooooooooooo matron........................

also, wind the string round the rubber a good few times. gives you more than 1 shot at the seal going in right without having to take the glass out again

Glass cleaner is the preferred lube as it helps it go in, but then evaporates once the seal is in place, so you don't end up with them trying to pop out again.
