Slamming mk2 Scirocco and going wide... wheel size question

Hi (first post) I'm planning on slamming my Scirocco with coilovers, now my question relates to wheel size and will they rub or catch and will I be able to fully drop it down?

I'm planning on fitting a set of deep dish 15x8J ET25 with stretch rubber and quite possibly 25mm hubcentric spacers all round, either that or a set of 16x8J ET25 fronts and 16x9J ET35 rears. I reckon in both cases I might need to roll the rear arch but my concern is the front catching on lock etc.

Also which size tyres for a required stretch in both cases?

Any helpful advice appreciated!

:wakey:

Ok guys cheers for the input lol.

I've gone ahead and ordered up a set of 15x8J ET25 all round bbs rs style jobbies and plan on stretching some 175 45's on them, then whack the coilovers down as far as rubbage allows. With that stretch I reckon it'll go some way when I drop it. Might even get the 25mm rear spacers in bringing the rears to ET0, I'll see how it sits first.

I can see me removing the front arch trims and introducing the angle grinder to the rear arches lol.

I'll get some pics up when I eventually get time to do the job.

check Mr Funks project 'the bandit' in project threads, arch liners removed.
also my scala runs on 7 and 8 x 16 d90's with only the odd bit of nsf rubbage on tightest/'banked' roundabouts.

both cars have rear arches rolled and sealed.

i run 16x8j et35 with 20mm spacers and all is fine. could easily go 16x8j et0 out back if you want, anything less than et15 up front will need arch work other than rolling.

Cheers fellars, are you all using coilovers and if you are what sort of drop are you running with?

Only just seen this.

I'm running about 90mm lower on Weitec coileys, rolled rear arches and no poo shields up front. Front lower strut brace is absolutely essential. The wheels are 7's up front and 9's at the rear.
Hits the corners like a fly on a bun.

I must take a look at the bandit.

One more question guys... I've just been taking a look at my rear arches and I can't even see them for the bodykit, and if I roll them there'll be nowhere for the bodykit screws in the arch to go obviously.. soooo I'm assuming I need to remove the bodykit arch then fettle the body arch then trim the lip away in the plastic arch section of the bodykit?

Will the arch section of the bodykit still be secure with the screws no longer holding it on in the arch?

What happens is that the body kit gets heated and folded round the metal arch then that itself gets folded again. Done properly it creates a well sealed fold. Cover the whole thing with sealant and you're fit to funk.
Make sure you do it properly, screw up the fold and water will get in and rust the metal and the body kit will flap about like a mental cat.

what et are your rims mr funk? i do like the bandits "stance" (hate that word).

i'm using weitec coilovers, fronts wound down a fair bit, back isn't wound down at all at the minute.

heres how mine sits. front needs a little stretch as seen, rear tucks in nicely with et35 on 16x8j

I see, sounds like a specialist job this. Are the screws inside the arch actually holding the bodykit on or are they stuck on some other way, ie if I take the screws out will the arch fall away?

Wassel it looks in the pics like your front wheels should be at the back? The front ones look a bit wider than the rear ones.

Et wise I'm genuinely not sure mate. I'll get the ca Friday so feel free to ask me over the weekend as I'm rubbish.

Euro - I got mine done at by a bodywork specialist and I know Sean (gxtra) got is done at The Phirm. I had my old ones done there and it was a very reasonable £45 a corner (only needed the rears doing as without the poo shields you get a lot of extra room).

You could do it yourself with a heat gun, an arch roller and a whole load of patience but frankly I quickly realised what the limits of my skills were.

Sorry just seen your post , I run a rocco petty low on 15 x 8 on coil overs but had to remove front helper to make them fit , I run a early one ( no kit ) and have had no arch mods ( played with cambers and spacing ) 16 x 9 would fit but arch mods be needed unless you wanna spend a lot of time cambering wheel and having big stretch , air ride is answer for extreme wheels .......
Need more pics of your car

Right, found the pics I needed. This is 9""rears running stretched 215 tyres. You can see that if pushed right down there will be slight on the tyres. I never take anyone in the back (couldn't if I wanted to at the mo - no back seats) but even loaded with kit for festis and being a bit spirited in corners I never get rubbage. I originally set it lower and that's where the problems were.

Image

The fronts are 7" running 195/205 (can never remember which). No spacers. If you're going down the same route I did with 280mm brakes (mine are a complete custom Willwood set up but lots of people go for the excellent G60 upgrade) you'll need to consider that some 15" rims won't accommodate the discs/calipers. The ET on mine meant that I didn't need spacers. Don't get rubbage, even on full lock.

Ah yeah I likey!

Got the car booked in for rear arches to be rolled this Saturday morning at a local tuning shop, they're charging £25+vat per corner so £60 and it's job done.

How exactly are the arch mouldings held on? I can see there are screws inside the arch but are they also secured in any other way?

I've not started fitting any parts yet, I'm waiting until I'm off work in a few weeks but this is a pic of the car as she stands today...
