I dont know what a scirocco housing looks like but i've changed a few steering locks in my time.
I take it you have found the bolts that hold the ignition barrel/steering lock in place on the column?? On the 1's i have done there are 2 rounded off bolts, I take it they do this in manufacturing so you cant get a socket or spanner on them as a anti-theft device? If so... I have a solution to your problem!
You either need a demmel or a hack saw blade, basically you just want to cut 2 flats on the heads of the rounded nuts, so you can get a flat headed screwdriver on it... On 1 of them, i did it on the top where the hex head should be, and on another i had to do it underneath, on the bolt shank, and unscrew it backwards so to speak.

Its a bit of a pain, but its the only way i have found without cuttin it up.

Hope this help... Chaps

Recently done same job on a golf mk3, the shear bolts are
as said an anti theft :chortle: device.
Just get a sharp 1/2 inch cold chisel and a small hammer,
place chisel on outer edge of rounded shear bolt at about 45 degree angle
and tap the bolt around - it comes loose quite easily cos the head of the bolt
used when assembled is designed to shear off at fairly low torque setting.
Re-assemble the same way!
Hope this helps

hi , no its not the sheer bolts the need to come off , sorry should have said that , its the upper metal shroud or coller this retains a spring and a washer which retain the bearing in the steering lock housing , so that you can then remove the housing , some have a plastic shroud which is easy to get off , however this column has a metal one
have to get this off as the one on trhe caddy has been smashed
cheers

you can just undo the locking bolt on the bottom by the pedal and pull the shaft out with the housing

as you need a pully to get it off
or cut it off and buy a new one
