A search revealed this has been asked before, but some time ago.

Noticed my passenger side headlamp was wobbling, and discovered that on two of the adjusting screws, the plastic that holds them onto the car is broken.

Ordered a set from ebay that claimed it fit "Passat, Scirocco etc." and kind of looked the same as the ones I had in - but got 'em and they're slightly too small, so just fall out again (no matter, they were only a fiver for the set).

If you're looking at the front of the car, on the passenger side headlight, there are two short knurled screws, top right and bottom left, and a longer un-knurled screw that goes in the top left. Looks like the top left and bottom left are slightly broken on mine so the headlight wiggles around a little bit.

Dealer says I think that one of these is available but the other type is discontinued.

Anyone either got a set of these they want to sell me, or know where you can get them? Failing that, any alternative methods of fixing the headlights that is MOT-worthy?

Nuts and bolts is a bodgeable method that should do the trick. Depends how finicky your MOT man is about headlight adjustment as this could take a while if you use nuts and bolts.

Yeah I was thinking about how to bodge it. The screws I have are intact, as in the little white cap that the headlamp sits on is intact on all of them, it's just the circular white plastic bits that you twist into the bodywork that actually holds them into the little holes are partly shattered so they don't hold properly any more. I kind of thought whether a couple of big washers with nuts either side might somehow do the trick. It would have to be done so they didn't rattle out of adjustment, I guess by having two nuts, one holding the other on the adjusting side, the old "one nut locks the other one" trick.

Old Mac Rocco - yeah if we can somehow locate the ones that were in that mystery thread..... frustrating.

I would rather buy them new than bodge it, as surely they're only a few quid...

VWHeritage couldn't help me, again, they could get hold of one and not the other. Also I went on to the german classic parts centre, where same story, there appears to be one but the other one is discontinued (not showing any results). I may end up having to buy one type new and bodging the other type, or something.

Back home after a "trouble free" 472 mile round trip to Leeds and back in my baby.
Now back on a Facebook "like" logo free computer so I will be able to try and find the missing posts and post this back up again.
Failing that I will see if I can find the original pics and use them.
Just on a quick search I am credited with 637 posts but when I log on and click on "search users posts" I have only 535 so the numbers do not tally up ??????????

JUST ordered a load from VW Heritage - 533 941 133 B, name on sticker on packet of current stash = SPEED NUT, it's the white plastic pieces that clips light to frame.

So it's the white plastic bit that's always breaking that holds the screw into the frame? Yes, I could use them and stick them onto the existing screws I've got. Nothing wrong with my screws or white mushroom cap things, it's the round plastic things that are the problem.

Can I buy some off you?

i had the same problem, but just bodged some i got off the spots from an old camper, got me through the mot

Thread resurrection time!

Looking thru the forum as I need some of these clips thanks to a local pheasant.

Thought I would share my bodge on my last rocco, which was similar to old mac rocco's pic above the difference is that where the bold goes through the headlight, I had a rubber grommet sandwiched between 2 repair washers either side of the headlight. This allows the bolt to have a slight bit of movement, as per the original clips.

For the record, I was extremely lucky and managed to get the correct clips from a guy off ebay. They do come up occasionally, but they're not common. I'm all sorted with it :)

If it is just the white clips which are on the headlight, I can deliver these if needed.
