Ive heard its not very good to sit the car on its wheels without the driveshafts inserted through the hubs - not good for the bearings or something..
My engine is out, i just need to move the car, didnt wanna damage anything....

You have heard corectly. Its just not very good for them! Ive left them out and they were fine but my mates collapsed pushing his Mk1 Golf out of the unit!
I have some driveshaft ends I just bolt in mine if the shafts are out. better to be safe than sorry!

It got worse haha. He fitted a drivshaft end back in to tow it round the corner(about a mile) and all the greese from the driveshaft end got very hot and set on fire from the heat. lesson learnt
