mk1 scroc... well half of one anyway.

morning all.
"its weird, i've built more mk1 golfs than i've had pairs of shoes but never a mk1 scroc for myself"
thats the conversation as i remember it anyway, and next thing i know i have one in the driveway.
i say one but its more a question of saving it from being cut up as thats what it was destined for and i couldn't bear to let it happen.
the backs pretty good but the front was buried under a tree for 2 years and is showing the affects.
restoration is what i do and i've rebuilt far worse so the metalwork isn't an issue.
i have new front wings but am on the look out for a lower front spoiler and dare i say it, bumpers.
plastic ones will suffice as its going to be restored but built up as a track inspired car so don't really want chrome ones.
have a drivetrain sorted but more on that when it lands on my drive.
some people have already condemned me for the "track" word but i assure you it will be a tasteful rebuild.
welcome any comments, good or bad, they won't put me off anyway.
shaun.

you'll find a good spread of purists and modders on here thankfully - all with knowledge to share.

Good save. Rust is totally fixable at the front.
Any pics of your best Type 17s that you have built?

Check with VW Classic parts, VW Heratige some sheet metal for the body is still available ( inner wings as UK readers call them :D )
Track or street, as long as its saved..

tyres went flat so had to throw some spare rollers on to move it.
they wont stay but looks better already.
will end up with 200 ish horsepower so think these will need replacing.
things wont happen quickly on this now as other work commitments are getting in the way.
will be sourcing parts mostly and will keep things updated when it moves along.
would like to be done for next summer though.

autocad asked about old stuff i'll built.
it occured to me i dont have that many pics of them as most were built before digi cameras were as plentiful as they are now. (showing my age)
managed to find a couple of the most recent ones though. i know their not scrocs but it'll give an idea of the direction i'll go with the thing. these are are my personal vehicles as well so my taste, not customers.
again, apologies for the non scroc pics.

now have 95% of body parts needed.
work has all but stopped being as its so close to xmas so might have it in as a winter resto project, rather do this than paint the walls.
