well i reconnected the clutch cable to the gearbox, but doh!!!!! i didnt make a not of how much play there was befeor i diconnected it!!! and Haynes is just far to helpful.

I've set it so theres a slight bit of play at the top of the pedal, anout 10mm, does this seem right????

I;ve driven it and gears seem fine with no crunching, but just want to make sure, last thing i want is to go through the clutch!!!

thanks in advance

Heath

I don't know about a set amount it should be but,
As long as the gears are not crunching then its obviously not too much and as long as there is some free play then the clutch wont be slipping.
I prefer to feel the free play at the gearbox lever end while adjusting it, the main concern is if there is no freeplay then you have the worry that the clutch is not engaging properly when released and will cause it to slip.

if it feels the same as it did, then it's probably right. it takes very little adjustment to drastically "move" the biting point, and if you're used to the car you will notice it. but as said above, so long as there is some free play then the clutch won't be slipping all the time
