Hey guys and girls, I have a mk2 gt, and I've bought and fitted a brown Wolfsburg steering wheel which im very happy with. Problem is, my dash is black, so it looks a bit odd. So id like to know if a brown mk1 dash will fit straight into my mk2? And if not, how much work would be involved? Thanks for any help.

When not just put in a brown MK2 dash, assuming you can find one :)

Might be a very stupid question coming up so I apologize in advance, but did they do brown for mk2's? I thought it was only gold mk1's? Would love to be proven wrong though.

Yep, MK2 Storms in brown had a brown dash. In fact I have a spare, has a few cracks, pm me if interested.

The earlier non-body kit mk2 cars had a variety of coloured dashes, amongst which was brown (my '83 GTI has one). You could get the steering wheel re-covered or dyed black, which would probably be easier (and look better, unless you're also going to go for brown door cards, seat backs, carpets and parcel shelf).

First question: why would you want do do that?
Second question: have you considered the different sizes of the dashes and where the connections go?
I think it's a no-no from the start.
