full beam mechanism

a good few months ago now my flu beams / flash stopped working, since its mot time soon, i figure its about time i sorted it.

the problem isn't in the lights themselves or the wiring, its the mechanism on the steering column.
The indicators work fine, but pushing and pulling them doesn't do anything, there's no click like there used to be.

has anyone had this happen before.

this is the culprit. which parts would i have to replace?

here's the indicator stalk assembly, to me it doesn't seem to include what i need.

I had to change the one on my Scala, it exploded into many small pieces when I was restoring the car. Easier and cheap enough to change as a common VW part.

I recommend taking your stalks to bits before you order anything as the full beam mechanism is actually controlled by the left stalk but the switch is part of the right stalk.

There is a plastic hook on the left stalk that hooks into that ridge you can see on your picture just above the arrow which is actually part of the right hand stalk.

From what I can see in your picture the plastic hook has either jumped out or just snapped, so I recommend taking it apart to see.
