I guess with the curve and everything its not the simplest of shapes. I'd be happy with one even if it was'nt a perfect match for standard. the prices genuine ones go for though.... £800 was the last figure I heard

I thought about using US rabbit bumpers but they are to narrow. maybe T25 bumpers chopped and customised to fit?

Yer good idea! The originals must be pressed into shape i suppose, not simple. If they dont have the nice rounded edges they'd look bad i reckon. I still wanna look into it though.

The metal cross beam inside a later plastic bumper is exactly the same as an early chrome bumper. Just a few holes to weld up and have it chromed....

i hadn't realised that. and my front one was removed by a bus, so it's been sat staring me in the face. just had a very good idea. hmmmmmmm....... car is met blue. personally i hate chrome (chrome is for harleys, not for cars) but teamed up with some gloss white "g60" wheels, gloss white bumpers would probably look quite good

think of the impact (no pun) on scene tax pricing of steel bumpers............mind you there aren't that many later bumpers floating around to act as donors?!?

nice idea :vcool: or powdercoated black is always very clean.

I think VW heritage have them, and they are often on ebay.de. I'm sure theres a way of getting them to fit a repro bumper. My late bumpers are off the car at the mo, i'd like to take the plastic off to measure the steel - is it possible without breaking the plastic lugs?
