Little issue here

My pads wont fit.

I have :
scirocco 16v carriers from the US via Mr Brown
What I think are mk2 golf 16v calipers (although I am suspicious they could be g60)
mk2 16 vented discs
mk2 16v pads from GSF

1. The pads foul the carriers each end by about 1mm
2. The carriers are very close to the discs, and touch in one area stopping the rotation.

All bolted to mk1 hubs btw

The correct calipers should have girling 54 or just 54 if reconditioned.

There are different thickness pads avilable for this setup - i'm running the same setup and have had the same problem with getting the right pads.

You need the thinnest ones that are available, i have the mintex part number somewhere if you want me to dig it up and post it on here?

Its not the thickness of the pads that is the problem, cos if i squeeze the piston back they go onto the disc okay. Its the width. just catches each end on the carrier.

Yes, if I tighten up the bolts hard it will just about clear, still touches though. Its almost like the hub or carrier needs to be ground down a bit which is strange as i thought it was a straight bolt on job. I havent tried swapping the discs, but they seem to sit very similarly.

Well it turns out these are carriers from a low spec audi (solid discs) hence the fouling.

Should be from a 16v scirocco...vented discs. Then the pads would fit aswell.

The ones I sent you were taken off my own 16v Scirocco so I'm confident your problem is elsewhere.

FWIW those pads look wrong. The correct ones look like this -

The pads could well be wrong (GSF do my nut - dont think ive once had the right part first time) they dont seem to fit the caliper that well.

The discs could possibly be out of line due the the hubs not being pressed in i suppose. That might explain why one fits much better than the other.

You've been given what I think are the later style pads. They are the same as the type I'm using, my calipers and carriers came from a 88 5 cyl Audi coupe. When I ordered pads from Rally Design I got the earlier type first which looked like the photo Mr Brown posted.

Have the hubs had the bearings pressed out and back in? I'm wondering if the lugs for the carrier have been slightly bent causing the fouling you have.

I'm not sure how to tell if the hubs/bearings are pressed quite right, maybe someone can tell.

Well i have now tried the earlier type pads, they dont fit either. The clash completely, and the lugs dont sit on the carrier at all. totally puzzled now!

My turn to apologise - the pic I put up before is wrong Unfortunately I was a bit too trusting of a certain car tuner's website. The pads should look like the ones you had in the first place.
