Ive stripped the carpets out of my rocco and made a commitment to not put them back in until I am 100% confident there are no more leaks. I have stopped the leaks from behind the door cards and now I have noticed it there seems to be water coming in from the scuttle panel on both sides. and running down in front of the doors. Can anyone recommend anything for sealing up the scuttle panels, I tried a quick fix of underseal but that didn't work so I ended up cleaning all that back out. I was thinking some sort of silicon sealant?

Have you cleaned out the channels and the tubes at the front? they get mullered

Ye , and Ive actually drilled some more holes to help it drain better.

It's definitely the scuttle? Not the screen seal? (Silly question, but if you don't ask...) I'd be pretty confident of silicone NOT working (particularly between panels). "Tiger seal" is your friend!

I cant see it coming in from the screen seal, I think this leak issue is going to be a process of elimination. The most likely culprit at the moment is the scuttle panel, cheers for the heads up on tiger seal.

you haven't drilled holes down into the footwell have you?

could be the windscreen seal is leaking, or there are rusty holes lurking under the screen seal. i had that on mine, and it's a bugger of a job getting a welding torch in there i'll try and find you some pics...

May be a simple one but have you checked all the grommets are in place, there are quite a few where various cables run through to the engine bay?
I have a leak on my Scala when I first bought it, it turned out to be coming in from the crap welding job on the clutch cable hole repair!

I've had a quick look at grommets and things and none of the sound deadening foam that still left on the bulkhead is wet so I dont think It is that but I will have another look.

I certainly hope its not the screen lip rusted. like I say I don't think it is coming from as high up as the screen. Obviously the dash makes it hard to see and by the time I come out and find the car has leaked its a question of trying to track the wet patch back. Might try spending a bit more time with the hose pipe tomorrow (thankfully the ban hasn't made it this far yet).

I knew someone was going to make a joke about me drilling into the footwell.

I think I'm gonna get the wire brush attachment onto my angle grinder and clean the scutttle panel up before giving it a fresh coat of paint and then a layer of Flexane which will stop any leaks from there if thats where it is coming from. Hopefully that will be the end of it then.

Is there much involved in removing the single wiper motor so I can do under there aswell?

it wasn't the actual windscreen lip that rotted out on mine, it was underneath that. honestly can't remember which side you get at it from, but i think it was the inside. get you hand up there and carefully feel around where you can't see and play find the rusty hole. also worth taking the felt stuff off and seeing if there are any rusty marks you can follow to see where the water has been running down

I'd been avoiding removing the only bit of soundproofing left in the car as Its noisy enough as it is. I haven't got a stereo in there yet and all I can hear is tappets. The reason its still there is because it was the only bit of felt that was not wet so I dont think it is tracking behind it but may have to give in and pull it all out.

A tip someone gave me for tracing the leak was to mix coloured chalk in with the water and pour it over the car with a watering can, obviously white chalk (or talc) will show up on your red car.
