Hey all,

The plastics in my mk1 scirocco various pieces have faded from their original saddle brown colour.

Just wondered if anyone knew of any Saddle Brown interior spray paints from VW or would I have to go try get some of this mixed up at a paint shop or similar?

Many thanks!

If you have an old part you can try something on why don't you try this.
Wash it thoroughly and spray it with a clear primer and then spray it with a clear lacquer.
I have done this on the plastic parts of my seats and they have come up surprisingly well, but don't know how well it will last.
It has changed them from being old and faded looking to bright and shiney looking.
:bye:

make sure you use plastic primer.

You will probably find that a "back to black" type product used on bumpers would do the job, without making it look like you've painted the plastic. The one I've used on my bumpers is a white liquid, so won't impart any colour to the plastic it's applied onto. That way you will be able to improve the appearance a bit, without destroying the patina of an old car.

I am thinking similarly with Edmundator although I'm thinking that Autoglym Vinyl and rubber care http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/p ... _care.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; might be the product to use. Myself and Old Macrocco swear by the stuff for re-nourishing anything rubber, leave it to soak and it is amazing stuff. It's clear so shouldn't effect colours. I suspect it might work wonders on your vinyl/plastic type interior parts.

Any pictures?

Hey guys,

Sorry if ive made myself unclear or not read what your replies are properly however, the main problem i am having is that the sun has actually faded and made WHITE patches across lots of the brown parts in the interior (namely the inner door handle pieces)

My car has the standard brown versions of these but the suns made it have white patches etc. so was basically wondering if there's any pre-made paints or sprays to match the brown style interior so i could repaint these handles or would I have to get paint mixed for it?

Thanks for all your replies thought people, some good ideas for refreshing other parts!

The problem is that the originals aren't painted, but formed from brown plastic - so if you want to paint them, it's a matter of finding a brown paint that's suitable for applying to plastics. Model paints (e.g. Humbrol) might be the best for this sort of thing - you would probably be best painting in matt and then applying a satin varnish for a reasonable cosmetic result that's hard-wearing.

For a decent result, I'd say you're better off trying to find better original brown replacements (possibly available new, otherwise you might find some second hand).
