New fuel pump relay - no sound of pump priming?

I had a non-VW fuel pump relay in my car and every time I turned the key to aux I could hear the fuel pump prime.
I now have a VW fuel pump relay but when I turn the key now...nothing.
Car still runs fine, I'm just wondering if this is normal. Can't understand why a new relay should behave differently.

Its normal..some do some and some dont....most of the cars I had over the years didnt prime before start up and had no running problems.

My Mk1 Golf Gti with a DX engine in has never primed the fuel pump and it starts and runs with no problems.
If it works I would not worry about it priming the pump.

That's good to know, I had to replace both pumps a couple of years ago, just wanted to make sure I wasn't heading for some more problems.
Thanks.
