Might seem a daft question, but has anyone any experience of renewing the white plastic bonnet stay clip that sits on the offside of the slam panel?

Just ask the dealer for one.

Look in the center of the clip - there's a round plastic peg you push thru and then the clip pops out. The new clip will come with the peg half in.

Cheers - that's just what I was after. I'd seen the pictures of them and thought 'how can that be used with the peg running through it?'

Do you need to fix it in with sealant as well? Mine appears to be set in with some white rubberised sealand around the peg and the base of the clip.

No sealant required.

Sorry, misunderstood what you wanted.

For reference the parcel shelf clips are attached in exactly the same way (you'll need to replace them at some point).

Cheers guys - that explains things. The peg sticking out in the centre of the clip was confusing me a bit.

You're right that these are obsolete from the VW dealer, but I've put in an order for them with VW Heritage, so fingers crossed for when it arrives!

Chubnut on ebay often has them.

Finally, the clip arrived in today's post, so had a go at fitting it tonight.

It was no problem at all - just a few light taps of the peg from underneath to get the old clip out and then another few taps of the peg to get the new one in - all sorted now!

Cheers guys!
