Looks cracking mate, nice job. What are the gauges telling you. I only have one, telling me the life of the battery/voltage thingy.

Rob will no doubt confirm what he used, but I think most folks use a stereo blanking plate and drill three holes as appropriate. Rumour has it there's a guy on here with a white GT who might be selling one!

All 3 gauges came out of an Audi 80 sport complete with oil pressure and oil temperature senders which need to be matched to the gauges so preferably get them from the same car. Third gauge is volts. They often come up on ebay but will set you back about £50 usually. The housing I made up with a bit of composite plastic about 6mm thick from work which looks very similar to the plastic used for the console. After cutting to the size of the console I cut the gauge holes with a hole saw. The housings are available on the internet for about £13 and I assume they fit nicely but I am tight!! The back of the ashtray was cut off with a dremel wheel cutter. The wiring tapped into the switched live supply to the fan knob and the lights from the redundant ash tray illumination. The cable for the oil temperature sensor is actually fitted in the wiring loom already, green/black wire with a spade just above the oil filter housing and the other end is loose and tucked up behind the fusebox and is easily found. An extra cable was run to the oil pressure sensor which was fitted in place of the existing low pressure sensor on the right hand side of the cylinder head. If anybody wants more info just ask

VW Heritage have discounted their DIN-sized 3x52mm gauge backing plate in their current sale - about £20.

Cheers mate, just the inspiration I need. going to mount the gauges a little different to you, was looking to go under the radio.
May come back to you for photos under the bonnet and wiring enquiries. Just waiting for the gauges to arrive from Latvia.
