Right, Just got through the MOT, so its probably about time i got some pics up of the new motor!

First up, who's nerdy enough to 'get' the project name? probably just me :hehe:

My aim with this car is to put all my favorite bits from the differnt scirocco models onto the same car.

This is the car as it was when MrMender very kindly collected it and dropped it off ready for the work to begin! - front end is a bit wonky looking, and there's gaffer tape holding the door together and the sunroof in!

Image

Arrived at home, time for the work to begin!
Image

Job 1 - off with the roof rails, then door changed
Image

State of the door. unfortunatly the new door is metallic black unlike the rest of the car, but looks good enough for now and much better than the hole in the other one!
Image

B-pillar vynal looked a bit tatty, so off with it
Image

Wheels off
Image

Quite a bit of welding done near the rear beam at this point, unfortunatly lost my photo's of that bit. also replaced at this time, both handbrake cables, and a brake line

Beam refurbished, and ready to roll
Image

First try of the GTI lights, pre refurb
Image
Still not 100% sure which i prefer, but i'm sticking with the GTI ones for now

Lost the spoiler! Also striped the rear lights. Took about 3 hours with black tape, there's about 18 meters of striping on these things!
Image

Used the old spoiler tabs to part fill the lower holes, fibreglassed over the top
Image

Filled and smoothed
Image

Saw a repair my Dad made to my Mums MR2 sills, the underbody spray looked like it had been vynal covered, which gave me the folowing idea!
Image

Zender spoiler fitted
Image

Arriving at the garage for the MOT
Image
Failed initialy on a corroded brake line, but soon sorted that out!

On to todays work
Scirocco script added
Image

Never quite liked how the standard spoiler looked, but didnt want to remove it as it's occasionaly usefull, so, flat wiper mod! the bolt will be removed, and all properly rivited together, but not sure where to get a rivet that thick from - anyone have any ideas?
Image

Leather interior cleaned and fitted, and that brings us up to now. A few last things i want to do before its ready to be driven, but nearly there!

Flat rear wiper looks a lot better! How'd you go about doing that?!

Its a wiper arm from a BMW (3 series i think) estate.
Spline was a bit too big so i had to take the bottom bit off of the existing wiper arm, hence the ugly looking bolt that's currenlty holding it on. as a nice bonus, the fitment and wiper blade are exactly the same as the original, so i dont need to remember what car i got it off :chill:

I kind of liked OMR's suggestion, but now I think I see where you're coming from. It's referring to The Battle of Wolf 359 ... I think?

:dunno:

And Cpt Custom wins! more the star than the star trek episode to be honest, but i'll let you have it :hehe:

I really though it would take longer than that to get!

Confession time! Although a big Star Trek fan I have to say I'm not nerdy enough to have picked up on that without getting lucky with Google ... I just searched on the combination of E359 LJD and Wolf!

I thought you were going to leave the outside "standard" and drop a 500bhp engine into it and scare the s---e out of everyone when the lights went green. :crying:

Well done Cpt C I take my hat off to you.

:bye:

PS Did the Wolf win.

I've never really been happy with the look of the clear indicators with the GTI headlights, but as i may at some point want to go back to full sized lights, i also didn't want to use tinting spray, so i used a sheet of gunsmoked lamin-x to colour it

what do you think?
