Having the same talk with myself as you had when you did this.
Old scratched and faded.

Cleaned up and most of adhesive removed and door part recovered. mmmmmmmmm
Since I took this pic I have cleaned up the leading edge of the rear window.

Can't decide to do door only, replace both OR leave both naked.
Naked view I'll post up tomorrow as it was b----y freezing by the time I got this far.

I have to say that that carbon-effect looks great. don't usually like such things but I definitely make an exception for this

Had a little bit of a mini meet at ours today with Ian (ianaudia4) and Tony (mazellann) coming down for a natter etc.

As ever, the guys were eager to get their hands dirty so a few little jobs were undertaken including test fitting a set of GTI lights I’ve had knocking around for some time. Be interested then to hear what folks think of Lily’s new look …

Worth pointing out as it might not be obvious from the photos that the indies are the oddly shaped and rather square ones I bought from Funky Diver a while back. Not sure if I like them or if the GTI lights might be better with the normal orange indies or even the clear ones which I also have at hand. Again any opinions/thoughts on this would be welcome.

Like the poster says, “I used to be indecisive, but now I’m not so sure”

Really like that Paul, with all the black they fit on really well, I'd say keep em on :)

Cheers Heath. :good: Probably need to mock up the various options and take some photos to mull over before making a final decision. Let's see:

Ordinary lights as was with regular orange indies
Ordinary lights as was with clear indies like when I bought her
GTI lights with these odd square edged indies
GTI lights with regular orange indies
Or, GTI lights with clear indies

Oh, and then there's the matter of the eyebrow spoiler ... hell, far too many options!

Hmmm, not normally a fan of the gti lights on a bodykitted car but on a clean white/black kit car that looks really good Paul.

Definitely try with the clear indies without the grille spoiler.

hope all well.

They're US-spec indicators, I think. Designed to run as running lights as well as indicators on a USA car.

I like the look and I think orange is good.

she's looking good mate! im not a huge fan of the new lights, but they do look good. cant help but think it would look perfect with the clear indicators all round, but a bit of colour does set it off nicely.

regarding the b pillar patches, i did mine quickly before a show because mine were all battered. i think it looks okay, but would look better with the gloss finished vinyl. i also think that it looks a bit better with all or nothing, not just the door trim. that said, it still looks good! haha.

How did you initially take the rust away from under the bonnet ?? Ive got exact same white bonnet with rust just like yours, im thinking if i do most of hard work will make repainting costs lighter..

Wire brush on the drill and just steady away until it was all gone. :good: Then some rust eater etc before applying primer etc as you would any body repair.

Bear in mind the pucka replacement panels are no longer available ... I must have been one of the last to get one. :ebay:
