Gearknob?

Mines split, does it just screw off? tried gently to screw off but didnt budge
dont wanna use too much force as dont wanna end up with no knob ;)

yes should just screw off. You might need to put a bit of force behind it tho.

I tried my best to get my one off today (to replace the gaiter) man its a stiff bugger! Will give it a proper go tomorrow..

You must be gentle when grabbing your knob, I twisted mine too hard and it fell off.
I replaced with an 8 ball

It just needs a real man's grip to get off, a bit like the tops off a jar!

Ian when you get down to London ill ask you to try and get it off.
I tried for about 30 mins today just seemed to damage if anything!!

I'm not taking the p***, but you are unscrewing anti-clockwise? I have a big set of molegrips, shift anything!!!

Yep anti-clockwise - I tried using a large set of mole grips but they damage the leather and slide around it also...

about a tenner I reckon - could possibly get one to to match the style im doing but wouldnt be original then..

Perhaps someone glued it on when they bought one of those hand brake locks before you owed the car. The lock used to fit to the hand brake and the gearstick and they used to come with some glue to stop you undoing the gear knob and removing the lock. Might explain why you cant undo the gear knob..

Grind from underneatht he knob. Bloody thing was too long anyway
